The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act
New Jersey has been a leader in establishing statutes, regulations and programs to help prevent and respond to harassment, intimidation and bullying in schools. The Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act was signed into law in 2010 to help prevent, report, investigate and respond to incidents of harassment, intimidation and bullying of students that occur on school grounds and in certain circumstances off school grounds. The law is an extension of the state’s original anti-bullying law, first enacted in 2002.
NJSBA provides training and resources for board of education members to learn more about the legal requirements of the anti-bullying law and regulations.
