High school students throughout New Jersey are encouraged to take part in high school voter registration week, April 25 to April 29, by registering to vote.
New Jersey’s Division of Elections reminds students that democracy is not a spectator sport. It requires participation to keep it strong.
In New Jersey, you must be at least 17 to register to vote, with registration becoming active on your 18th birthday. Those 18 and older are also encouraged to register to vote to begin participating in the democratic process, including primary elections on June 7.
To register, you must be a United States citizen, a resident of the county for 30 days prior to the election and you must not be serving a sentence of incarceration as a result of a conviction of an indictable offense.
The registration deadline to vote is 21 days prior to Election Day
Register to vote online or by downloading a printable postage paid form for your county.
After registering to vote, you can also apply to vote by mail-in ballot.
