Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA executive director, presented a resolution honoring Southampton School No. 1 in Vincentown, New Jersey, as it celebrates 100 years of educating children.

The centennial celebration was held Sunday, Oct. 31, at the school. It featured a brief history of the school; remarks from past and present administrators, educators and alumni; singing performances; tours; a banner presentation; activities for children and more.

The resolution detailed the rich history of the institution, which is a K-2 school with about 225 students. The resolution notes, in part, “It is fitting that the New Jersey School Boards Association, which has served local school boards through advocacy, training and direct services since 1914, should recognize this remarkable school that has made such an amazing contribution to Southampton, Burlington County, and all of New Jersey.”

The resolution noted that the Association extends “best wishes for continued success for the next 100 years and beyond.”

As part of the festivities, the school put together a centennial celebration booklet containing a brief history, pictures, and memories from alumni that can be purchased for $5. Commemorative coffee mugs and holiday ornaments were also available for purchase.
