The New Jersey School Boards Association’s School Finance Conference is only one week away: It will take place at the Conference Center at Mercer County Community College on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
The role of district leadership in school finance extends far beyond the budgeting season. This year’s conference will feature a diverse range of topics covering many aspects of school finance. Facilitated by leaders in school finance throughout New Jersey, session tracks are available both in-person and virtually for board members, business administrators and all team members.
The conference’s keynote address, “Creating A Connection in School Finance,” will be led by Kurt Rebovich Jr., senior manager of member services and strategic partnerships at NJSBA, and Charlie Muller, interim executive county superintendent of Ocean County schools. Together, they will cover the spectrum of school finance in New Jersey to deepen knowledge and improve practice among school leaders and their teams. Follow-up sessions will also be offered to answer questions and expand upon topics.
Board members have access to tracks that will cover various subjects specific to a board member’s role in fiscal leadership and responsibility. “School Finance 101” and “Communications and Compliance with Accountability Regulations” – an exclusively in-person session – are just two of many engaging tracks featuring topics such as understanding the business administrator report, the fiscal cycle, communicating with your community, incorporating public relations into finance and much more.
