The New Jersey School Boards Association joins the School Social Work Association of America, the New Jersey Department of Education and other education groups in celebrating School Social Work Week, March 6-12. School Social Work Week is held the first full calendar week of March and pays tribute to the vital role that school social workers play in the lives of students, administrators, teachers, educators, parents and the community. Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, executive director of the NJSBA, said, “Students, parents and the entire school community owe so much to our school social workers. They often don’t get the recognition they deserve despite their selfless efforts. We join the rest of the school community in telling them ‘Thank you’ during School Social Work Week.” The theme for National School Social Work Week 2022 is “Time to Shine.” It is led by SSWA, the only national organization exclusively dedicated to the profession of school social work. “School Social Workers are humble professionals who often are the voice for students and families — but do not always voice the value they add to the school community,” said Rebecca Oliver, executive director of SSWA. “School social workers shine a light on the need for mental health services, offering hope for students and families who face various challenges, and lighting the way for marginalized youth.” Get School Social Work Week resources from the SSWA.
