The New Jersey Department of Education recently released a Frequently Asked Questions document designed to address what is anticipated to be common questions local education agency leads may have regarding the impact of a law designed to study and evaluate the educator evaluation system, which also halts the collection of new student growth objective data, according to an advisory.
On May 17, 2024, Gov. Phil Murphy signed P.L.2024, c.14 (S2082), which establishes a 13-member task force designed to study and evaluate the educator evaluation system established pursuant to the TEACHNJ Act of 2012 and currently implemented in New Jersey public schools.
Beyond the establishment of the task force, the legislation halts the collection of new student growth objective data for the 2024-2025 school year for tenured teachers.
