In its continuous effort to align with statewide education sustainability initiatives, the New Jersey School Boards Association is completing its conversion of the School Board Notes Digest newsletter into an online publication.

The weekly electronic newsletter is published online and emailed to members Wednesday mornings. A condensed roundup of the weekly issues is currently mailed in a paper format monthly. Instead of printing and sending thousands of paper newsletters once a month, NJSBA will transition the publication online come July.

“After serious consideration, we felt that transferring this popular education newsletter online would be a smart step in helping to fulfill what the Association has been working toward for years — practicing responsible environmental management and conservation,” said Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod, NJSBA executive director.

NJSBA members who still wish to receive a complimentary subscription to the print issues of the monthly School Board Notes Digest after July may complete this form.

Recipients can immediately take advantage of a new online archive featuring all the monthly issues from 2021.

Moving forward, new issues of the monthly School Board Notes Digest will be placed on the monthly digest page as they are published, so members and others can access the latest issue at any time — and even share it with others via social media.

A Legacy of Environmental Stewardship In 2013, NJSBA partnered with Sustainable Jersey to create Sustainable Jersey for Schools, a voluntary certification program for New Jersey public schools. The program is based on the successful Sustainable Jersey certification program for municipalities and comprises a broad coalition of educational organizations and academic, business, and state agency partners. The program provides districts with guidance, support and recognition for implementing sustainable steps in their operations and for being proactive in preparing students to be good stewards of the environment.

Additionally, NJSBA offers sustainability consulting and policy services for school districts, a Green Leader certification through the Board Member Academy and assistance on sustainability projects through the ACESplus program.
