New Jersey high school students are invited to participate in a visual art competition to design the exterior of the new ScreenNJ Mobile Health Van.
In partnership with the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the New Jersey Department of Health, and health care and community organizations across New Jersey, ScreenNJ aims to:
- Increase access to timely cancer screening.
- Reduce cancer mortality rates.
- Reduce disparities in cancer screening access.
- Educate New Jersey residents about the importance of cancer screening, early detection and prevention.
Originally focused on colorectal cancer and lung cancer, ScreenNJ recently expanded its efforts to also address breast cancer, skin cancer, prostate cancer, cancers related to family and genetic risk factors and HPV (human papillomavirus)-related cancers such as cervical cancer. These expanded efforts include bringing cancer screening services directly to communities experiencing access issues through the new ScreenNJ Mobile Health Van.
The contest is meant to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the state and to help ScreenNJ communicate and celebrate its community-focused health promotion goals.
Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m., March 25. Winners will be announced in April 2022.
Prizes
The first-prize winner will have their art featured on the sides of the new ScreenNJ Mobile Health Van, and second- and third-prize winners will have their art featured in ScreenNJ community outreach events and activities statewide. Winners will also receive gift cards for the Kite+Key Rutgers Tech Store ($1,500 for first prize, $500 for second and third prize) as well as ScreenNJ gifts.
