The New Jersey School Boards Association’s semiannual Delegate Assembly will convene Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021. The meeting will be conducted remotely and will begin at 9:00 a.m.
The Delegate Assembly is held twice a year to set policies that determine NJSBA’s position on educational issues and establish bylaws that govern its operations. Delegates, as well as nonvoting board members and guests, can register to attend on the NJSBA website. All board members are welcome and encouraged to attend, but only those designated by their board of education to serve as a voting delegate should register as such. Each board of education in the state is entitled to one voting delegate.
New Meeting Platform
Unlike the three previous assemblies that were conducted virtually, the upcoming Delegate Assembly will be held through the NJSBA Swoogo conference platform. As this will be the first time the Association will be utilizing the NJSBA Swoogo platform for the Delegate Assembly, attendees that have never used the platform are encouraged to create a profile prior to the meeting.
Members who have signed into Swoogo for other NJSBA events, such as virtual county association meetings, will use the same email address and password to enter the Delegate Assembly meeting.
All registrants will be emailed instructions on how to join the meeting through the Swoogo platform. All participants must be registered by 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18 to receive the instructions. Electronic copies of meeting materials, including the agenda and Delegate Assembly Handbook, can be found on the conference platform and the NJSBA website. A computer or smartphone is required to vote during the meeting.
The agenda for the meeting includes a report from NJSBA President Irene LeFebvre and NJSBA Executive Director Dr. Lawrence S. Feinsod. Also on the agenda is the sunset review of Sections 3000 (Business and Noninstructional Operations) and 4000 (Instructional and Support Personnel) of the NJSBA Manual of Positions and Policies on Education. The Association did not receive any resolutions from local boards of education prior to the Sept. 16, 2021, submission deadline.
For questions regarding registration, email the NJSBA Call Center. For questions about the Delegate Assembly, email Cindy Harrison.
