The application for seeking reimbursement for providing additional or compensatory special education and related services for students with disabilities who were 21 as of July 1, 2022, is now available on the New Jersey Department of Education’s Homeroom webpage, according to a broadcast from the NJDOE.
When completing the application, school districts will, for each student with disabilities receiving special education and related services under this program, estimate costs to be incurred in the 2022-2023 school year for providing these services. Applications will be accepted through Jan. 16, 2023, and then the NJDOE will reimburse 50% of the approved costs in January 2023.
Districts must submit final applications for 2022-2023 costs in June 2023. Final applications will include final costs for 2022-2023 and reflect adjustments to estimated costs submitted in January as needed. The NJDOE will reimburse any remaining balance before the end of July 2023.
ACSERS awards must be recorded in the special revenue fund account 20-4537, line number 827. Expenses must be recorded in the program code 20-486-xxx-xxx, in the line number 88712.
For additional information, please refer to the December 2021 and April 2022 broadcasts.
