The New Jersey Department of Education recently announced the extension of the project period for round one and round two awardees of the Learning Acceleration Program: High Impact Tutoring Grant through June 30, 2025.

The NJDOE is also providing approximately $4 million in supplemental funding to existing grantees. This additional funding will be offered to the almost 300 grantees in good standing in amounts proportional to each grantee’s share of high impact tutoring grant funds awarded in rounds one and two. Each grantee will receive approximately 8% of their initial award. The additional funding is anticipated to become available in the Electronic Web-Enabled Grant System to grantees as early as September.

Awarded local educational agencies have already served tens of thousands of students to date, with many tutoring programs offering access to students throughout the summer months. Grantees had shared with the NJDOE that they were actively seeking additional funds or attempting to braid other federal funds to augment the reach of their successful tutoring programs. As a result of the significant interest in increasing services to more students throughout the fall of 2024 and spring of 2025, the NJDOE has worked to accommodate those requests through this opportunity.

Key Steps

Chief school administrators, project directors and business administrators identified in the EWEG administration tab of the Learning Acceleration Program: High Impact Tutoring Grant from each participating LEA have received an email describing next steps for accepting and budgeting for the increased funding amounts. If this email was not received, please contact the NJDOE via email to receive the communication directly. The adjusted award amount will be reflected in EWEG in the coming weeks but can be estimated at approximately 8% of the original award size.

Please contact the program office via email with questions about eligible costs or other programmatic inquiries, and the Office of Grants Management via email if EWEG assistance is needed.
