School districts throughout New Jersey are invited to participate in the STEAM Tank Challenge, created by the New Jersey School Boards Association.
The challenge encourages education in STEAM – science, technology, engineering, arts and math – for New Jersey’s public-school students.
STEAM Tank gives student teams the chance to work collaboratively to identify and develop innovative solutions to issues such as climate change and pollution, societal problems and situations that need resolution in our schools, communities, state and globally. Students are asked to solve a real-world problem, invent something new, or modify an existing product. Many student-created solutions have the potential to end up in the marketplace to help improve technology, the environment or a social injustice.
The program is designed to inspire, engage and motivate students to help build problem solving skills, collaborate with their peers, connect with expert mentors and promote student achievement. These points allow for learning to extend beyond the four walls of the classroom.
