The N.J. Division of Local Government Services is reminding local government entities, including boards of education, that the deadline to submit a Local Efficiency Achievement Program (LEAP) or School Regionalization Efficiency Program (SREP) grant application for FY 2025 is May 30, 2025.

Applications should be submitted as soon as possible due to the LEAP program’s popularity and funding availability for the FY 2025 LEAP appropriation.

LEAP facilitates exploring and establishing shared services by providing counties, municipalities, school districts, commissions, authorities and fire districts assistance for the study or implementation of promising shared services projects undertaken under the Uniform Shared Services and Consolidation Act.

SREP facilitates feasibility studies that support the creation of meaningful and implementable plans to form or expand regional school districts. Factors like enrollment, facility utilization, contiguous districts with small enrollment, existing send/receive relationships, administrative staffing, class size, diversity enhancement, debt and contractual obligations, faculty needs and attrition, and other factors will be evaluated.
