The New Jersey Department of Education is hosting its Celebrating Diversity Conference at The College of New Jersey in Ewing on Dec. 5 – and each school district is invited to send at least one representative, according to an advisory.
The conference will celebrate and explore the rich tapestry of cultural heritages and histories represented in New Jersey, while promoting unity and inclusion. It will include the NJDOE commissions dedicated to Amistad (African American) History, Asian American Heritage, Holocaust and Genocide Education, Italian Heritage, Latino and Hispanic Heritage, and LGBTQIA+ Youth Equity and Inclusion.
Participants will get the chance to deepen their understanding of these diverse communities, their histories and contributions. While there is no limit on the number of representatives a district may register, space is limited, and the NJDOE encourages districts to register as soon as possible.
The conference will consist of three informative and engaging sessions, through which participants will gain valuable insights into the educational resources available to educators, and strategies for promoting cultural awareness, inclusion and unity in the school setting.
The conference will be held at the Student Recreation Center at TCNJ, which is located at 2000 Pennington Road in Ewing.
Any questions regarding this conference or registration can be directed to the NJDOE via email.
