• There was a large turnout at NJSBA headquarters for the County Association Leadership meeting on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Dozens of board members from throughout the state gathered at the New Jersey School Boards Association’s headquarters in Trenton on Saturday, Nov. 23 for a County Association Leadership meeting.

Registration began at 8:30 a.m. and breakfast was provided. 

Barry Fitzgerald, the Association’s vice president for county activities, welcomed attendees and led them in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Irene LeFebvre, immediate past president of NJSBA, delivered remarks and thanked them for spending their Saturday to advance the education of all children. She then welcomed the Association’s new deputy director, Dr. Nicholas Diaz, who introduced himself to members and answered questions.

Ray Pinney, chief membership engagement officer at NJSBA, also delivered remarks and oversaw attendees breaking into four groups consisting of members from northeast, northwest, central and south as County Association Leadership members selected who would be on the NJSBA’s Nominating Committee, which will oversee officer nominations for the 2025-2027 term.

The members of the Nominating Committee are:

  • Northwest – Jennifer Knittel, Warren County, Washington Township.
  • Northeast – Hasani Council, Essex County, Newark.
  • Central – Donna Iacone, Burlington County, Cinnaminson.
  • South – Patrick Ireland, Atlantic County, Egg Harbor Township.

The NJSBA’s county activities coordinators – Robert Acerra, Najah Haskins and Karen Callahan — also attended the meeting.
