On Monday, May 8, Gov. Phil Murphy signed A-1791/S-3306 (P.L.2023, c.47), which establishes a “Career and Technical Education Scholar Awards” program to recognize outstanding career and technical education students.
The board of directors received reports from the president, vice president for county activities, vice president for finance, vice president for legislation/resolutions and immediate past president. The board also heard detailed reports from NJSBA staff on advocacy and legislation.
The NJSBA and ASAH, which has been serving the special education community since 1974, will recognize the programs designated for honors during a video presentation held in conjunction with Special Education Week.
At its May meeting, the New Jersey State Board of Education heard updates and acted on numerous items, including a close vote on NJGPA cut scores.
The guest speakers at the Legislative Committee meeting were Assemblymen Antwan L. McClellan and Erik K. Simonsen, both Republicans who represent New Jersey's 1st Legislative District.
