‘Hitting Kids Should Never Be Allowed’: Illinois Bans Corporal Punishment in All Schools

Illinois will become the fifth state in the nation to prohibit corporal punishment in all schools. Among states that have completely outlawed it, New Jersey took the unusual step of barring corporal punishment in all schools in 1867. Iowa eliminated it in private schools in 1989. Maryland and New York stopped private school use in 2023.

Federal judge rules transgender student can play on girl’s tennis team in Virginia (msn.com)

The Hanover County School Board in Virginia can’t block an 11-year-old transgender student from playing on a girls’ middle school tennis team, U.S. District Court Judge M. Hannah Lauck ruled last week. The student is currently engaged in a lawsuit against the school board for discrimination.
