Superintendent - Washington Township School District

The Washington Township Board of Education in Morris County, New Jersey is searching for a new Superintendent to lead our 21st-century learning community, where all students are provided an exciting and meaningful educational experience to help them reach their full potential as responsible adults.

Our District is geographically large, yet boasts a friendly, small-town feel, while being on the forefront of school safety and security. Our community is strongly supportive of our schools; we enjoy active PTAs and PTOs, and our $28m bond referendum for District-wide capital improvements and upgrades passed overwhelmingly in 2023. We are served by exceptional educational professionals who support our District, and whom we support with high-quality professional development. Parents and teachers in Washington Township Schools are very invested in our children. We are proud of the excellent reputation and cleanliness of our community oriented schools, and we love the beauty of our bucolic Township, which is rich in wildlife.

Washington Township Schools educate just over 2,000 PreK-grade eight students in three neighborhood elementary schools and one middle school. We employ 80 non-certificated & 240 certificated staff members and nine administrators, with an operating budget of just under $45.5m. Our graduates attend West Morris Central High School in the West Morris Regional High School District.

The successful candidate in our Superintendent search will enhance our District’s focus on student achievement, and will have demonstrated success in supporting an innovative curriculum and a strong Special Education program. We are looking for candidates who have experience in strategic planning, and who are skilled in budgeting and prudent resource allocation to provide our students with an optimal learning experience.

NJ School Administrator Certificate or CE is required. Prior successful superintendent experience preferred. Successful K-8 teaching experience is preferred, and a background in Special Education is desired.
